westerly light

my dad has this one window in his house, where at the sweet time of light (5-7ish) depending on the time of the year, it lets in this beautiful glow.  my youngest was playing legos (old school legos too!) at this time when visiting the other day and I i was so thankful I had my camera because otherwise this image wouldn't exist.

gabriella v. - class of 2012

I had the pleasure of taking some photos of Miss Gabriella a few weeks ago.  After an unpleasant interaction with another photographer, they decided to get some more images taken.  I had a great time with this beautiful girl!!

And fellow photogs - that last image is SOOC!

april 23, 2012 - math book

so in an effort to ramp up my blogging again, how about some images of my kids to ease back into it.  my oldest, he has created his own "math book", a green notebook with the words "math book" written on the cover in sharpie.  he makes up his own math quizzes, exercises and questions. he loves math and science, much like his father.  i can only hope that love keeps going past kindergarten.

someone come kick my keister if they don't see me back here in a few days with another blog post.

november 2 - I'm thankful for my grandparents.

Growing up, I was extremely fortunate to have all my grandparents be active parts of my life.  Up until last year, I had all four grandparents still living, which is rare to have.  I have so many memories from both grandparents homes both in Zeeland and in Spring Lake.  Today's thankfullness comes from a bittersweet situation that is developing as of very recently - my mom's parents are being moved into an assisted living facility soon.  The home that they've shared for as long as I can remember won't be theirs anymore and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.  I know it's a part of life, but it doesn't make it easy to accept.  Things will be so much easier for them and for that I'm also very thankful.  My dad's mother is still living in the assisted living facility where she's been for a while now and really likes it there.  So I'm thankful for my grandparents and their caretakers (their children and others).

november 1 - I'm thankful for...

I've decided to devote each day of this month towards what I'm most thankful for.  Some of the things will be small and will be huge - but they are all near and dear to my heart in some way, shape or form.

That and it's an effort to get my bum back in here to blog.  These past few months have been busy and the blog has been poorly neglected.  Let's remedy that, shall we?

And I'd love to hear that you're out there reading - so post a comment - say hi! - share what your thankful for!  I wanna know too.

I've already posted on Facebook my thankful moment of today, but I wanted to share an example on the blog:

Today I'm starting November with one thing I'm thankful for and going to continue it all month long! November 1st - I'm thankful for my family, pitter patter of feet, the funny things they say and the love from them all.

Exhibit 1:  Sleepy swaying Sammy.

This is always a struggle - keeping Sammy awake.  He could nap during the day but then he's up until 11 each night, so I find it easier to just keep him awake during the day so we have a normal bedtime.  But you can see here how fun that really is - at the end of the video he hears our neighbor talking from clear down the street...nevermind the fact that I was talking to him for a good 20 minutes and he was completely ignoring me!
